…No, you wouldn’t? OF COURSE YOU WOULDN’T! And neither do these dogs! They don’t want to live outside in the cold either! There is a large misconception with some people falsely believing that dogs are like wild animals who are able to survive outside in the snow during cold weather such as foxes, wolves & coyotes do. But, nothing could be further from the truth! Wild animals are equipped genetically to survive in very cold temperatures and furthermore, they have adaptive strategies like creating dens, nests and other types of shelters in preparation of the cold weather. The also spend a great deal of time hunting for food which raises their internal body temperatures through physical exertion. A Dog or a Cat does not have any of these abilities. They are just sitting outside freezing to their deaths. Dogs have not been wild animals for a long time and are now completely Un-equipped to survive in the wild or outside for that matter. SO PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF DOG…
BRING THEM INSIDE!
***If you know of a dog suffering outside in the cold, please act! Call 311 or 911. If the dog needs medical attention get it for them if you can. If the owner is there, plead with them. Call a local rescue group to assist you. In cases where the city or law enforcement will not act, rescue groups can often negotiate a solution or the surrender of the dog with the owner. But, they can not help dogs that they do not know about. For a list of animal welfare groups in your area go to the links below.***
