**WE ARE HEARTBROKEN. WILLY HAS PASSED ON TO THE RAINBOW BRIDGE. HE KNEW SO MUCH LOVE IN THE FEW MONTHS HE SPENT IN HIS FOREVER HOME. RIP SWEET WILLY; WE WILL SEE YOU AT THE BRIDGE.**
Below is the Statement Released by Mr. Bones and Co. We all share in their sadness.
We are deeply saddened to share that we have lost a member of our Mr. Bones & Co. family, One Lucky Pup alum, Willy. We pulled Willy from the At-Risk list at NYC ACC a few months ago, after he was surrendered with disc issues, unable to walk properly. We put Willy through a successful spinal surgery with one of the best neurologists around, Dr. Abbie Lebowitz, and Willy made it through the long, slow recovery, ultimately being adopted by very loving and devoted parents, Andy and Emily. Shortly after his adoption, Willy suffered another disc rupture which resulted in a second emergency spinal surgery that we also arranged for. Later that same week, yet another disc issue had him back in for a third surgery. But Willy made it, recovering beautifully. Andy and Emily worked with him to socialize him once his recovery period was over and Willy had a wonderful time meeting new friends at doggie daycare. He loved life.
This past week, Willy went from starting to wobble again, to becoming completely paralyzed in his back legs and shaking, over the course of a few hours. His parents rushed him to the emergency animal hospital, were we happened to be for an unrelated case. Putting Willy through a fourth spinal surgery was just too much on his little body and it would likely continue to happen, causing him more pain and increasing in severity each time. Willy’s quality of life had severely deteriorated and would continue to do so. Selflessly, Willy’s parents made the decision to let him go, to allow him to find peace. They are devastated. We share their grief and our hearts go out to them. They wanted to let you all know how grateful they are for your support of Willy. He was their best buddy and they are thankful to have been able to give him the chance to be a happy, healthy, playful pup for a little while. They miss him dearly and will love him always.
There has been so much loss over the past few weeks in our MBC family, but we have no doubt that Willy was eagerly met by little Dutch, Lucy, Sweat Pea and Madison when his soul crossed over. We’ll see you at the Bridge, Little Man.
This adorable guy is getting a new leash on life! Willy has been adopted!!!!
