Nearly All Dog Bites ARE PREVENTABLE! Dogs do not bite without warning! Here are several basic things that can keep everyone safe.
1. ASK FIRST: never approach an unfamiliar dog. Some dogs suffer anxiety or are uncomfortable in certain situations or with certain people or dogs.
2. GET PERMISSION: Before petting or having your children pet unfamiliar dogs, make sure the owner gives permission and has good control over their dog. Do not approach or allow children to approach dogs if their owner is not in control of the pet or paying attention.
3. DO NOT TOUCH: Never touch dogs while they are sleeping or eating. Especially unfamiliar dogs. Always instruct children to follow this rule.
4. STAY AWAY: Stay a safe distance from dogs that are hard barking, growling, chained/tied up or free roaming behind a fence.
