***UPDATE: LINCOLN HAS FINALLY GONE HOME! Lincoln has been adopted into an awesome home! And we couldn’t be happier! It has been long tough road getting there, but, Lincoln always had that one special person who believed in him, his rescuer, Eliot Jordan. She never gave up on him, no matter how hard things got. Lincoln was always a sweetheart but, inside he was anxious and terrified of any new or stressful situations, including being around other dogs. His issues caused him to loose out on two adoptive homes as well as a foster home. He then spent 11 long months in boarding with Eliot coming to pick him up after work every Friday. She spent every weekend taking him on hikes and working with him on his issues. Yet, as soon as he would go back to boarding on Sunday night, he would revert back to the scared, anxious dog. Eliot knew boarding was only making his emotional wounds worse and the only way for Lincoln to heal and be happy was a top notch training program. Lincoln’s life literally depended on it.
In June, Lincoln took the first steps toward a happy life, by entering the Dream Come True K9 6-wk Board ‘n’ Train program. And the program literally transformed him. Thanks to the amazing work of Blake Rodriguez and the DCTK9 staff, Lincoln was no longer fearful around other dogs and other previously stressful situations. At the same time, Eliot found a potential adopter for him. And it was love at first sight…coupled with some training assistance from DCTK9! Lincoln has been home now for a month and is doing very well! He spends every waking minute with his new BFF Wyatt, just relaxing by the pool, going to the lake or hiking around. Lincoln is beloved by his new family & has a great life with them! All of the hard work has paid off and we are so happy for him! If ever a dog deserved an outcome like this…It’s Lincoln! We love you buddy! Happy Life! And Thank you Eliot Jordan & Dream Come True K9 for making this all possible for Lincoln!***
Lincoln was saved from his third appearance on the kill list in just 8 days (3 of which he was on stray hold) at the Manhattan ACC back in August. He has gained 12lbs, as well as confidence and happiness. However Lincoln is still awaiting his perfect forever home, or a foster home while he waits. Please share Lincoln’s story and link to help him find his #HappyTail
When Lincoln arrived at the shelter, he was in bad shape. It was clear that he had not been well cared for or loved, in quite some time. Besides his poor outward appearance, he had some emotional healing to do too. He had never known the peace that accompanies life in a stable loving home. But, this guy is resilient! He’s a wonderful dog, who has come so far since the shelter. He has learned to trust again, to let people & love in. Lincoln has so much love & affection to give if, only given the chance.
Lincoln needs an experienced handler, in a home without cats or small children. While he has gotten much better with other dogs, especially females that are not dominant, it would be best if he was the only dog. At least until, he has time to adjust & decompress. A home with one female dog, may be considered pending interaction.
