On June 27th 2014, Piper found herself very sick with kennel cough and on the TO BE DESTROYED list. This scared 6 year old Pitbull arrived at BACC after someone reported 3 Pitbulls were tied to a pole on a street in Brooklyn. There was nothing special about an unwanted middle aged Pitbull in Brooklyn. She was very fearful & was rated experience as a result.
Lucky for Piper, June 27th would not be the end of her life but, the beginning. Someone who saw an Urgent tweet came to adopt her. And there were some bumps in the road at first. Piper was scared & hid under the bed. She cringed when touched & shook terribly at any loud voice or noise. She also had accidents. But, after several weeks, Piper was a totally different dog. She was always happy, sweet, gentle and cuddly. It was remarkable, what an amazing dog she became. Her family is so grateful for having found her through Urgent & to them Piper is the most special dog in the whole world. And their wish is that others would see all the special, amazing, loving dogs sitting at the NYCACC waiting for family’s of their own. Piper’s family truly cannot imagine life without her & the joy she brings to their lives. Thankfully Urgent helped them find each other.
In honor of Piper’s “Gotcha Day,” her mom is offering to match all donations to Urgent, up to $2000. They want to try and help other dogs like Piper, find their new beginnings 🙂
