Gloria is still waiting for her New Beginning!
Gloria is currently in boarding in Redding, CT and she is waiting for a foster or forever!
Gloria, an 8 year old 49 lb. Beagle/Lab Mix, was lucky enough to make it off the euthanasia list, thanks to a wonderful foster mom. But Gloria needs a SOLO DOG Home and cannot stay with her current foster. Please help Gloria find another miracle and help find her a home. Read her amazing story below:
A volunteer writes: I fell in love with Gloria before I even met her — she is so magical she could be the subject of a children’s book! According to the people that reported her as a stray, she had been living in an abandoned building in Canarsie for several years! Of course, she had a little help from friends — people in the neighborhood kept her fed (well! she is a portly little lady). I can just imagine her making her rounds down the block, and the plates of leftovers people would bring her on holidays. The part of her story that’s begging to be illustrated involves Gloria and her dog house. She apparently had a little igloo in the yard. On nice days she could be seen taking her blanket out of it, spreading it out in the sun, and then bringing it back in to tuck herself in at night! Given her former lifestyle, it’s no wonder little Gloria is a little unsure of the people and dogs that surround her now. She’s no problem to take out of her cage and very easy to handle, but seems a little nervous. She walks very nicely on leash, keeps her cage clean, and is quick to relieve herself outside. Gloria is starting to warm up nicely. She looks up at me often and softly wags her tail. She loves treats and though I wouldn’t call her cuddly yet, she lets me pet her all over. I hope her survivor’s tale ends with a description of Gloria bringing her blanket outside for a family picnic, and in again to curl up on a nice plushy bed!
Gloria is scheduled to be spayed, up to date on her shots and microchipped. Her adoption fee is fully sponsored and she comes with a 3 month supply of food, toys, bed and all the love you could want.
