Daniella Is Still Waiting For Her New Beginning…
Daniella was returned for no fault of her own & is now in temp foster care in the greater NYC vicinity. She’s in need of a foster or forever home.
Told By Her Rescue Mr. Bones & Co:
We are devastated to share that Daniella, our One Lucky Pup alum who we searched relentlessly for after she got out of her home, was hit by a car and went missing for 72 hours before being found, is being returned to our rescue after five months with her family.
Daniella, who was originally found as a stray and taken to NYC ACC, quickly became a volunteer favorite before being pulled from the shelter by another rescue. After months of bouncing from temporary fosters, she ended up in an isolated boarding situation. An ACC volunteer (also an MBC volunteer) shared her story with us and we reached out to the rescue to ask if we could take her into our program. Within a week of taking in this affectionate dog (March 2016) we received multiple adoption applications for her. After reviewing apps, checking references and conducting a home visit, we selected the family we believed was ideal and finalized her adoption.
Sadly, Daniella’s family recently told us she is no longer a fit for their home, despite how well she does with their three young children. The reasons provided for her return are absolutely no fault of Daniella’s.
To ensure the public is aware that Daniella is not a ‘bad dog’ nor is she unadoptable, we are sharing the stated reasons for her return:
•Daniella has a knack for ‘counter-surfing’; she likes to snack on items left out on counters when her family goes out. (Counter surfing is easily remedied by putting up baby gates, making the kitchen area off limits, or simply cleaning your counters before you leave the home.)
•Daniella can sometimes ‘happy pee’ when her family returns home and having to clean this up is frustrating to her family. (Who wouldn’t love a dog that gets this excited to see them?!)
•Daniella needs her anal glands expressed monthly, which also frustrates her family, who shared that they have too much on their plate to try and make this work any longer.
•Daniella’s family is having their house renovated in October so she will need to be gone by then as to not get in the way.
We’ve learned that there will always be a multitude of reasons why a dog is returned. No matter the reason we always welcome our pup back and keep searching for a forever home that is capable of the commitment. Daniella is an approx 2.5 year old, female Pit Bull who LOVES people; men, women, children, you name it, she loves it! Daniella is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed and house trained – despite her ‘happy peeing’. While Daniella has been fostered with other dogs, she does need a slow intro to feel comfortable and would do best with a smaller and/or more mellow pup as her companion.
